Police are investigating a shooting after a gunshot victim was found Saturday.
Aiken Department of Public Safety officers responded to Aiken Regional Medical Centers at 4:51 a.m. where employees reported a man with gunshot wounds was being treated. The man told officers he was walking to Shell Station when he heard shots fired, police said. He began to run, and then realized he had been hit twice, according to reports.
The man told officers his brother was coming to get him, but could not provide a real name, police said.
The victim then corrected himself, and said the man coming to get him wasn't really his brother, according to reports.
Officers then met with a man that was coming to pick up the victim, and saw his clothes were covered in blood, according to reports.
The man left the scene after being confronted by officers, according to reports.
After confronting the victim about the man leaving, he became irate and refused to answer anymore questions, according to reports.
