ROCK HILL, S.C. (AP) -- Authorities say a Rock Hill woman has been arrested after a dog was found dead in a crate she left in direct sunlight.
The Rock Hill Herald reports 18-year-old Quintasia Walls was charged with ill treatment of animals Sunday.
Authorities were called to Wall's home after someone reported a dog had been left crated in the heat. Deputies found the small dog dead. The crate had feces and urine inside and no water and was sitting on a slab of concrete in direct sunlight.
Walls said she found the dog the night before and placed it in the kennel. She said she ran errands and gave the dog water before she left, but didn't leave water in the kennel.
The temperature at the time was 94 degrees.
