Officers had to deploy a Taser on an Aiken man who shouted profanities at them and resisted arrest, according to the Aiken Department of Public Safety.
Willie James Dunbar, 32, of Colleton Avenue, was charged with disorderly conduct and resisting arrest. He was placed in the Aiken County detention center, where he remained Friday morning.
Officers were called to a fight at an apartment building on Colleton Avenue about 1:30 a.m. Friday that was determined to be unfounded, according to an incident report. They heard loud music coming from another apartment and were met with "loud and boisterous profanity" when they made contact with the resident.
The resident, Dunbar, continued using profanity after officers asked him to stop, police said. He went back into his apartment and began yelling profanity at officers through an open window. Officers tried to get the suspect to come back outside but he refused.
When officers tried to leave again, Dunbar exited the apartment and yelled another profanity at them, the report states. The officers then went to arrest him for disorderly conduct and entered the apartment, even when Dunbar tried to close the door on them.
Dunbar was actively resisting arrest, and an officer had to deploy a Taser on him in order to place him into handcuffs, police said.
