Aiken resident Jim Kekacs is running in today's Boston Marathon, and you can track his progress online.

Kekacs was inspired to qualify for the big race after the terrorist events that occurred at the 117th running of the world's oldest annually-contested marathon.

"When I saw (the bombing), it really ... I had always thought about running a marathon and I always thought that someday I'll do one," Kekacs, who has lived in Aiken since 1995, said to sports reporter Kyle Dawson. "When I saw them do that, knowing how that's the biggest marathon in the world, I got inspired to try to qualify. I was like, 'I'm not gonna let somebody do that and try to scare us from being able to do what as Americans we need to do to enjoy our country.'"
